Marion Abolt, one of the widely known citizens of Fountain County and a life long resident of Richland Towwnship died at the St. Elizabeth Hospital at 7 o'clock Sunday morning, February 23. He was 86 years of age and a successful farmer. Mr. Abolt was the son of John and Mary Furr Abolt and was born Dec 25, 1854. He served two terms as Commissioner of Founty County, following which he retired to his farm near Mellott. He was a member of the Newtown Baptist Church. Surviving is the widow, formerly Miss Martha Miller, Stone Bluff, Their marriage occurred Nov 17, 1877. Other survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Naomi Bales near Mellott, Mrs. Oveta Smith at home, and one son, Borden Abolt, near Mellott. Funeral services were held at the home, Tuesday afternoon with Rev HH Elmore officiating. Burial was made at the Union Cemetery.

Mellott, Feb 23 - Marion Abolt, 86 of two miles northwest of here, died Sunday at 7 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He was born in Richland Township, Fountain County and was married to Martha J. Miller, in 1887. He served two terms as Fountain County commissioner and was president of the Mellott Bank for many years.  Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Naomi Bales near Mellott; and Mrs. Oveta Smith at home; and a son, Borden Absolt near Mellott. Services will be Tuesday at 2 pm from the residence, Rev. HH Elmore of Crawfordsville officiating; burial in Union Cemetery, northwest of here. - kbz

Marion Abolt, 87, one of Fountain County's pioneer residents and prominent farmer and large land owner in Richland Township, passed away at 7 o'clock Sunday morning at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, where
he had been a patient since last Wednesday.  He was born December 24, 1854 on the farm south of Newtown where he spent his entire life, the son of John and Mary Furr Abolt.  On Nov. 17, 1887 he was united in marriage in Attica to Miss Martha Jane Miller of Covington, who survives.  Mr. Abolt served two terms as Fountain County commissioner, was president of the Mellott Bank and for many years was a deacon of the
Newtown Baptist Church of which he was an active member until health prevailed.  Surviving with the widow are two daughters, Mrs. Oveta Smith; Mrs. Naomi Bales and one son, Borden Abolt, all who live near Newtown.  He also leaves five grandsons, one granddaughter and two great grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the family home with Rev. H. H. Elmore, former pastor of the Newtown Baptist Church officiating with interment in the family lot in Union Cemetery, west of Newtown with Teague of Wingate in charge of arrangements.
